PERRY “RICHARD” RAMSEY Richard Ramsey, 74, of Independence, passed away at his home on March 6, 2015 after a brief illness, surrounded by family. Richard was born on March 13, 1940 to Perry L. and Bernita F. (Cothern) Ramsey in Kansas City, KS. Richard was preceded in death by his parents and wife, DeAnna S. Ramsey. He is survived by his son from a previous marriage, David Ramsey and wife, Tila, of Independence; step-daughter, Tammy (Patterson) Nelson and husband, David, of Parkville; brother, Gary L. Ramsey of Kansas City North; sister, Sharon M. Glusac and husband, Ron of Mokena, IL; grandson, Isaiah Ramsey; granddaughters, Meghan, Nicolette and Hannah Nelson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Richard attended East High School in Kansas City and North Kansas City High School in North Kansas City. Richard had a long career working at General Motors Leeds plant until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Moose Lodge #10 and Eagles Lodge #3717, both of Sugar Creek. He enjoyed bowling, shooting pool and coin collecting. He especially loved playing (and winning) cards with his friends at the Moose and Eagles lodges. Richard loved following sports, was an avid Royals and Chiefs fan and would often quote current and former players statistics. Visitation will be Saturday, March 14th at 10 am followed by a funeral service at 11 am at D.W. Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd., Gladstone, MO 64119. Burial to follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
