Peggy was born May 30, 1926 in Liberty, Missouri to Jewell T and Nancy J (Foster) Rice. She graduated in 1944 from Liberty High School. She married John J. (Jack) O'Brien on May 15, 1948. They were set up on a blind date on Valentine's Day in 1947. The love story ended in 2007 at Jack's death after 59 years of marriage. The merging of Baptist and Catholic and Republican and Democrat made for an interesting life for our family.
She was preceded in death by Jack, her parents and siblings Foster, Gene, Harvey and Cec as well as her son in law Jim Talley and Grandson, Craig Talley.
She leaves behind her four daughters Lynn Talley, Jeanne Mahoney (Richard), Jo O'Brien and Jan Warman (Matt). 15 grandchildren Chris and Curt (Jennie) Talley, Ben (Paula) and Josh (Anne Marie) Mahoney, Sara O'Brien (Jason) Ebberts, Luke, Joseph and Rachel Mahoney. Sean (Ericka) Murphy, Kori Verhage (Allan) Chappins, Garrett (Shannon) and Trent (Ariana) Verhage. Emily Warman (Jordan) Pokorny, Liz Warman (James) Armstead and Hannah Warman (Ben) Shalz. And soon to be 20 great grandchildren.
Peggy was a mighty mouse who until the last few years could keep up with her great grandkids. Peggy and Jack were able to fulfill a dream when they bought their cabin in Alpine, Colorado. As their home had always been, the cabin was an open door to so many. She lived a life that showed her love of family and friends and her deep faith.
There will be a private graveside service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to City Union Mission of Kansas City or Chaffee County Search and Rescue of Colorado.
The family would like to thank the staff of Kansas City Hospice for their loving care.
