Patricia Jones, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away in the company of loved ones on Friday, May 19. She is survived by her husband Rod (Kansas City), son John (Joan) (Kansas City), sister Sandra (Independence), grandchildren Daniel (Arlington, Va.) and Meghan (Kansas City), and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents Patrick and Edna.
A lifelong native of Kansas City, Mo., Patricia (known as Pat by friends and family) was born on October 13, 1938. She graduated from East High School in 1956 and remained on the reunion committee throughout her life.
One night during high school, Pat and a date went on a double date. The other couple was a friend of Pat's and a boy Pat had never met: Rod. Pat and Rod quickly realized they were meant for each other, and they married in 1957. They had their first and only child, John, in 1959.
Pat was an adept bookkeeper, a position she held at Havens Steel for 27 years. Later, she held the same role at PJ's Carpets and All-Brand Vac and Sew, which she and her husband owned. Pat was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord. At Fairview Christian Church, which she attended for multiple decades, she was a deacon, elder, and treasurer for the Priscella Group. In addition, she proudly held the title of Red Hat Society local chapter I president. She held a lifelong passion for reading. Pat also loved camping, listening to bluegrass, watching and playing sports, playing cards with friends, and boating.
She and her husband enjoyed traveling, especially sailing on Princess Cruises and attending bluegrass festivals. Their travel highlights include countless trips to see friends in Minnesota, along with visits to Denmark, Sweden, Canada, Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Above all, Pat cherished spending time with her family. She witnessed nearly all of her grandchildren's sporting events, graduation ceremonies, and other important milestones. She possessed great knowledge of her family lineage and attended many family reunions. She and Rod celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary on May 9.
We will forever remember Pat for her warm and caring spirit, her ever-present smile, her warm hugs, her enthusiasm for life, and her love for God, family, and friends.
In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patricia's name to Fairview Christian Church or to Crossroads Hospice.
