Michelle Elaine Stone, age 59 passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. Michelle was born on February 4, 1965 in Belleville, Illinois to William and Maureen Stone. She moved to Gladstone, MO with her family while still a young girl. The family became parishioners at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she attended school until going to St Pius X High School and graduating there in 1983. Michelle pursued her passion for teaching when she attended Missouri State University and joined Tri Sigma sorority. She graduated in 1988 with a Bachelor's in Childhood Education.
On March 25, 1988, Michelle welcomed her only child, Megan, who she would say was one of the most important parts of her life. Her daughter remembers her mother as selfless, supportive, and adoring who was always smiling and proud through every goal that Megan accomplished. Michelle's love of teaching remained for years, though her tireless professional drive led her to change careers, and become employed with Sprint for 23 years where she rose to be a Project Manager and achieve a Master's in Project Management.
Michelle always had a talent for organization and planning, found joy with music, movies, and reading, and had a love of the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs. One of her biggest passions in life was capturing special moments through photographs. She loved sharing time with her daughter's family, Michelle's siblings and their families, and beloved friends through phone calls, dinners, and big events. She adored sending cards to let loved ones know she was thinking of them, especially for their birthdays. When she moved to New York City in 2020, she felt like one of her greatest dreams had come true when she was able to explore her favorite city and especially that she could see the Empire State Building every day from her window.
Michelle is preceded in death by her mother, Maureen, which will be a most joyous reunion in the glory of Heaven. She is survived by her father William Stone, her daughter Megan and her husband Brett, with Michelle's most beloved grandson, Alexander. She is also survived by her brothers and sister and their spouses, Mark and Mary Jane Stone, Deanne and Dick Davidson, Kurt and Tina Stone, Eric and Amy Stone, and Ryan and Marianne Stone, as well as many dearly loved nieces and nephews.
Michelle's Loving Memorial is scheduled for April 13, 2024 beginning at 3pm with service starting at 4pm at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home located at 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michelle's life.
