He was born on April 29th, 1942 in Kansas City to Opal Irene Weber and Casper Edward Weber Sr. He graduated from Kearney High School and Central Missouri State College in 1964 with degrees in Chemistry, Physics and a minor in Math.
The family sought the help of a work colleague to describe Mike’s work. He stated: Mike joined the Cook Paint & Varnish Company in North Kansas City in their new and recently formed Polyester Coatings Laboratory as a young chemist. The Gel Coat Industry was just in its infancy, and Mike was a true pioneer and very solid innovator with regard to assembling together superior Polyester & Vinyl Ester formulations for the Marine, Tooling, Tub-Shower, non-Automotive Transportation, & Construction type market segments. Mike's overall understanding and grasp of physical & mechanical properties, color matching, patch & repair, ease of application & application techniques, & equipment was unsurpassed. As the years passed, Mike soon became the Director of Polyester Research and helped lead Cook Paint to the forefront as market share leader in the Gel Coat Industry in North America, as well as a major player in the Polyester Resin business segment. Mike continued working with this colleague from Cook Paint to present time.
He taught and formulated worldwide; including trips to British Paints in Australia; Medellin, Columbia, South America; Kelowna British Columbia Canada, and worked as a consultant to many chemical companies across America. His Cook Paint division was sold to Total and he traveled to Paris, France every 6 months for a short time before he developed his own consulting business. His favorite workplace was outside Memphis in Oakland, TN at Polycryl where he worked with some of his former Cook Paint friends - true friends, more than just work colleagues.
Mike is preceded by his parents; son Philip Douglas; and sister-in-law Mary Jane McClanahan.
Mike is survived by his wife, C. Lorene Weber; son Eric whose children are Jordan, Allyson and Lauren; son Steven, wife Snizhana and daughter Anastasya; brother Ed and Helen Weber; sister-in-law Jody Lollman and brothers-in-law Jim Lollman and Bill McClanahan, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
