Mary was the loving mother of William E. Journée Jr., Desiree A. Journée, Dr. M. Conrad Journée (wife, Cherie), and Nicole L. Minnick (husband, Ryan). Mary was the proud grandmother of Brittney Lea, William Stepter, Kirsten Ramos, Alexis Grant, Zachary Ropka, Brody Minnick and great-grandchildren Zuri, William, Roy, and Geno. She was the sister of Ulysses Guidry. Mary will also be missed by her cousins, nieces, & nephews, with countless other family, associates, and friends.
Mary was raised in Opelousas, LA by her grandparents, Pop-Gid and Mom-Gid. She loved telling stories about her eleven uncles and aunts. She attended Holy Ghost Catholic High School and enjoyed playing basketball with her three favorite cousins. She then moved to New Orleans where she met William Journée. Shortly after starting their family, they moved from Opelousas to Alabama and then to Kenner, LA. Mary began working as a home healthcare worker tending to multiple families in need of her services for most of her career. She moved to Kansas City, MO to be closer to her family after retiring. She enjoyed reading her mystery novels, sitting outside watching the birds and playing her iPad games. She loved giving gifts to everyone, and she dearly loved spending time with her family for holidays, birthdays, traveling the world and taking cruises with them. Mary and her family have been involved with Relay for Life/Cancer Walks for the past twenty years. She has also been a faithful member of her church home, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for the last forty years.
