Mary Ellen Hurst

Mary Ellen Hurst, 84, of Lee’s Summit, MO. On Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 2:50am our Angel entered Heaven.Visitation will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, July 29, 2017 at White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, MO. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. following the visitation. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Mary was born in Chicago, Illinois to Patrick and Mary Cloherty on May 29th, 1933). Mary was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was an active member of St Peters Cathedral in Kansas City, KS. She was a member of the altar society and assisted on the prayer line, she volunteered her service at St. James Soup Kitchen in Kansas City, MO. Mary was a strong woman with a kind heart and an enormous capacity to love. She was soft spoken, a patient listener, easy to make smile, slow to anger and quick to forgive. Mary is preceded in death by her husband Sam Hurst, parents Patrick Cloherty and Mary (Walsh) Cloherty, her siblings Joseph Cloherty, Margaret(Peggy)Maxey, Katie Gillespie and Ann Daly, her son Orville Geller, daughter Jacqueline Wright and her granddaughter Casara Geller. Mary is survived by her children, Peggy Ballinger of Lee’s Summit, MO, Dora Bell, Byron Geller, Cathy Thelen and Sean Wilcox all of Kansas City, KS, Katie Wilcox of Lawrence, KS and Joe Geller(Lynn) of Maryville, MO her grandchildren Scott, Carrie, Melanie, Shanna, Katrina, Chad, Fontana, Michael, Adam, Chandler, Seanna Marie, Dalton, Marah, Melyia and numerous great grandchildren, brother James Cloherty. Pallbearers will be Byron Geller, Joe Geller, Scott King, Chad Manuel, Fontana Dabbs, Chris Dabbs. The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Kindred Hospice for the care provided to our mother.
