Mary Ellen Hicks, 84, of Gladstone, Missouri passed away peacefully at her home on January 28, 2020. She was born on June 16, 1935 in Columbus, Georgia to Felix and Etha Mae Rushing. She enjoyed working with students, teachers, and administrators at North Kansas City High School. Mary married her high school sweetheart Robert Franklin Hicks and had five children. She was a loving, caring mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Mary loved to travel and was devoted to her family and her little dog Mia. She had many lasting friendships in the Gladstone area.
Mary is preceded in death by her parents, brother Jerry, and son Donald.
Mary is survived by her daughter Sandra (Rick) Temple, sons Michael (Karen) Hicks, Kenneth (Jeanette) Hicks, daughter Sharon Hicks, daughter-in-law Cheryl Hicks, all of her wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sister Nancy (John) Land.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be sent to the Northland Shepherd’s Center or the Gladstone City Animal Shelter.
