Mrs. Mary Bennett

Mary C. Bennett, 92 Kansas City, MO, passed away at 9:24 pm Sunday, October 16, 2022 at North Care Hospice. Mary was born June 14, 1930 in Pittsburg, KS to Thomas Raymond and Nina (Smuck) Colvin, the youngest of three children. Following her graduation from Pittsburg High School she worked for Commerce Bank and Trust in Kansas City from 1947 to her retirement in 1992.

She married the love of her life, Paul Andrew Bennett, December 4, 1948 in Kansas City. The pair celebrated 52 years of marriage before Paul passed October 1, 2001.

Mary loved her life and travels with Paul, especially to Florida and Hawaii, and a trip to England in 1993 to see Queen Elizabeth’s Birthday Celebration. She loved art, and being a matriarch of her family and was proud of her five generations of nieces and nephews and had a special relationship with them all. Mary enjoyed her home, yard, and flowers. She never met a stranger and was always trying to make people laugh.

She is survived by Nephews, Tom Colvin (Chris), Tim Colvin (Kim), and her Great- Niece, Jennifer Capps (Eddie.) Additional survivors include her Nieces-in-law, Doris Sample, Pam Harshaw, Great-Nephews, JD Sample (Karla), John Ross Harshaw, Phillip Harshaw, and Charlie Colvin (Wendi.)

She is proceeded in death by her parents, Sister Lawassa Harshaw-Jones (Vernon), Brother Charles Colvin (Jackie), niece Kay Harshaw Duncan, and nephews Jerry Sample and John Harshaw.

Memorials may be made to Children’s Mercy Hospital or the Salvation Army.

A closed casket funeral will be held Thursday October 27, at 10 am at White Chapel Mausoleum located at 6600 NE Antioch Rd. Gladstone, MO 64119

Father Galen Snodgrass will officiate.
