Marie loved meeting new people. At church, in her neighborhood, or at the grocery store, she would be the first to greet old and new friends alike. She helped care for several grandchildren and was easily recognizable taking them to and from school in her little green truck. She loved to cook and put together “Grandma’s Cook Book” that is still being used by her kids and grandkids. Marie was a small woman with the mighty superpower of a devoted mom. She taught us that we do well when we do good. She loved animals and spent her final years with Stone (horse), Shelby, Boo, Tenace (dogs), Burt and Steve (cats), Merlin and Jupiter Joe (goats) and loved to point cattle and sheep in fields as she traveled the countryside.
Marie worked for the Atlantic and Pacific Tea Co. for over 25 years and later as a teller for the Gas Service Co. until she retired. She never referred to people as co-workers or customers, only as her friends at work.
Marie was born on September 23rd, 1932, to Joseph T. and Lena (Mandaglio) Spano in New York City and loved going to Coney Island as a child. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Ralph and Benny Spano, sisters Connie Worrell and Helen Ann Moore, and her loving son Lyle J Morgan (her LaLa).
Marie is survived by her children, Madalena Morgan, Theresa Morgan, Lynne (Morgan) Collins and husband Rob, Cheri Burton-Severence, and Michael Burton. She had eleven grandchildren, Brandon Morgan and his wife Kelly, Cole Morgan and his wife Amy, Stephen Burton, Meghan Severence, Tayler Severence, Chris Collins and his wife Xiaoqian Wang, Sarah Eslinger and her husband Kyle. She had six great-grandkids, Jaxon, Violet and Zoe Morgan, and Trey, Tanner, and Tryston Eslinger. She also left many nieces and nephews who claimed her as surrogate Mom.
She will be missed here every day, but she is now in the arms of her family that traveled to Heaven before her.
