A 1960 graduate of Benton High School in St., Joseph, Mo., Ken joined the U.S. Navy later that year and served in active duty on the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Oriskany through November 1963 before being honorably discharged in 1966.
Ken, affectionately known by his aunts, uncles and cousins as “Buster”, was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He married Mary Catherine “Cathy” Howard in St. Joseph in 1965.
He is survived by his wife Cathy; his son Kevin Worley and daughter-in-law Karen Gettinger; his daughter Jill Foster, son-in-law Jeff, and granddaughter Abby; his son, Bret Worley, daughter-in-law Dana (Matthew), and grandchildren Quentin and Shea; his sister Janice Garrett and brother-in-law Don; his brother Paul Ronald “Ron” Worley and sister-in-law Victoria; plus numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and other beloved family.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother James “Jim” Dale Worley.
Visitation will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at D.W. Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home in Gladstone, Mo., on Sunday, April 7. Memorial services will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Steve Breon of Platte Woods United Methodist Church at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 8 at White Chapel Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations in Ken’s honor to Warriors’ Best Friend at www.warriorsbestfriend.org. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
