
Kenneth (Ken) Norman Aikin, formerly of Kansas City MO, died, succumbing to pancreatic cancer on December 10, 2015, in Mesa, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Ken’s name to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (pancan.org) or the Wounded Warriors Project (woundedwarriorproject.org). Ken’s funeral will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2015, at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road in Gladstone. Visitation begins at 9 AM, with the funeral service at 10 AM and interment to follow. Ken was born November 29, 1942, in Kansas City, MO. He graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1961 and attended Kansas State University. He married Linda Marshall on October 8, 1965. In 1966, he joined Trans World Airlines as a flight engineer. He also served in the Air National Guard. During his time at TWA, Ken worked his way up to captain. In his downtime, Ken enjoyed outdoor activities and playing sports. Ken was known for his sense of humor and his friendliness. Through his life, Ken relished beating his friends and family at any athletic contest and at card games. After Ken retired in 2002, he and Linda moved to Mesa, AZ. In recent years, they attended Grace Church. Ken is survived by his wife, Linda; two children, Kelly (and Ray) Stockstad, and Lori (and Mike) Schlatmann; a brother, Jim (and Janene) Aikin; a sister, Joyce (and Bruce) Derr; a brother-in-law, Gerry (and Margaret) Marshall; 10 nieces and nephews; one granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. His parents, Harold and Monty Aikin, predeceased him.
