Karen was born on November 22, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to Joseph and Leota (Point) Schupfer.
Karen graduated from Lillis High School,1957. Karen married George F. Hammons in 1959. Karen began working for Kansas City Water Department then stayed home to raise her and George’s children. Karen began working at Renner Elementary School, LC’s Hamburgers, then finished her working career with First Federal Bank of Kansas City.
Survivors include children Lisa Marie Hammons of Houston, Texas, Michael James Hammons (Kelly) of Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth Ann Bolinger (Wayne) of Lansing, Kansas. Other survivors include grandchildren, Hope Phipps (Daniel), Tate Hammons, Kellen Simons (Nick), Gary Kowalewski, Melana Kowalewski, Avery Hammons and Mya Hammons. One Great-granddaughter Harper Phipps and one step Great-grandson Tate Simons. Two sisters, Marilyn Marks (Jim) and Janet Barnett.
Karen was proceeded in death by her parents, husband and one son, Jeffrey Lee Hammons.
Karen attended United Methodist Church, in Platte Woods, Missouri. She also volunteered for the PTA for Park Hill School District.
Karen’s hobbies included cooking and baking for her family and teaching her grandchildren how to cook and bake. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially on holidays and when they could all be together.
