John (Jack) Edward Zimmerman Jr. was born to Frances, (Crahan) and John E. Zimmerman, (now deceased) on April 13, 1944 at St. Joseph Hospital, in Kansas City, Missouri. He attended De La Salle High School, St. Benedicts College, and UMKC. He owned and operated Mid Continent Industrial Insulation, and was an owner of PIC Plastics, in Carthage, Missouri. He was a faithful Catholic, and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Parish for over 40 years. He served as an usher and lector, and lived his entire life with a servant's heart and a generosity that knew no bounds.
On June, 18, 1966, Jack married Nancy (Chinn) Zimmerman. The term "the love of his life" is used frequently, but she absolutely was that to him! They raised 2 children, David and Amy, who continue to be the best gift they were ever given. They were each as proud of Jack, as he was of them. He lead an exemplary life and his family thrived from the life lessons he taught them about kindness, compassion, loyalty, hard work, honesty, and faith. Three words that describe Jack best, gentleman, admired, and respected! He was pure class.
Through the years, Jack coached boys football and baseball, and girls softball, making an immeasurable impact on the lives of so many. To this day, those kids, adults now, talk about what they learned from him beyond the sport. No matter your ability, if you worked hard and tried your best, you played. The friendships he had from his school years to the present were life-long. He and Nancy had friends all across the country, who remained close though living at a distance.
His grandchildren, Mark and Kelsey, and Jack and Max, were his absolute "pride and joy". They shared a unique and special place in his heart, and he made them all feel like they were his favorite. A perfect day was having his crew over for breakfast, watching them at a sport, or any activity, or just having a conversation about life! David's wife DD, and Amy's husband, John were blessed with a father-in-law who treated them as his own.
There was nothing Jack liked better than to be with family and friends. He enjoyed a good game of golf, traveling, cards, and tasty food and drink! He loved a Ketel One Up with an onion and an olive, and an after dinner cigar! All who knew him are certain that his brother, Jim, was there to greet him with just those two things when he entered Heaven's gates. He will be missed by all whose lives he touched.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his wife of 55 years, Nancy L. Zimmerman (Chinn), his son, David M. Zimmerman (DD), daughter, Amy E. Wilson (John), grandchildren, Mark and Kelsey Zimmerman, and Jack and Max Wilson. Nephew, Kenny Cusick, niece, Lisa Silvers, sister-in-law, Kathy Zimmerman (Jim) and Nephew Jim Zimmerman Jr., and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack's honor may be may to a charity of your choice.
