He was born September 25, 1942, in Wyandotte, Oklahoma, the son of John Wesley and Helen Jean (Slankard) McCall. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1960 and moved to the Kansas City area in 1967. John Sr. served in the US Army for six years during the Vietnam Era. For 38 years, John worked at Ford’s Kansas City Assembly Plant as a Quality Controller.
John used say: "It is just life". He lived a simple yet fulfilling life. He loved collecting coins and arrowheads. He was his two sons Little League Baseball coach in the late 70s. He was a member of "The Church in Kansas City" for 30 years with his loving wife Esther. Those, who knew him well, would say that he was a man of few words.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen McCall; five sisters, Patty Jo Lasley, Jean Ann Miller, Billie Blair, Punkin Jester, and Della McCall; and one brother, Jim McCall.
He is survived by his wife, Esther McCall; one daughter, Dianna Bamman and husband Bill of Liberty, Missouri; two sons, John McCall Jr. and wife Gulgena, and Tomas W. McCall, all of Kansas City; one sister, Maxine Jones and husband Glen of Miami, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Cassidy Van Hook (Tristan), Tomas McCall (Mavel), James McCall, Kamila McCall, Daniel McCall, and Alik McCall; one great granddaughter, Elizabeth McCall; and one great grandchild to be due in August; several nieces and nephews.
A visitation for John will be held Friday, April 7, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 Antioch Rd, Gladstone, Missouri. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 AM with burial in the White Chapel Cemetery.
