John Richard Bolton, age 82, passed away at his home on January 14, 2018. He was born on March, 22nd, 1935 to Glen and Claire Bolton of Lancaster, MO. Upon graduation at Lancaster High School, he bravely served the US Navy aboard the destroyer USS Wallace L. Lind and was a veteran of the Korean War. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to Chicago where he met the love of his life, Arlene Bolton. The two moved to Kansas City, Missouri where he took a career opportunity with Kansas City Power and Light and to start a family. After retiring in 1994, John and Arlene moved to Lake of the Ozarks. In 2005, they moved back to Kansas City to be closer to their children and grand-children. Throughout his life, John was known as a kind and gentle soul. One could sit and talk with him and immediately feel at ease. Not only was he a wonderful person, but a loving and devoted husband and father. He will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his wife, Arlene Bolton; brother, Jim Bolton; son, Jeff Bolton; daughter, Lora (Bolton) Becker and 3 grand-children: Charlie, Katie and Eddie Becker. John is also survived by his nephew Brian, a niece Beth and a nephew Kyle.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts to KC Pet Project.
