Jimmy was born on June 16, 1945, in England, Arkansas. His family moved to the Kansas City area in his early years, and he graduated Westport High School in 1963.
Jimmy married Patricia (Pat) Becker in 1967 in Independence, Missouri. He and Pat started their married life in Claycomo, Missouri and shortly after moved to Liberty, Missouri where they would build their family over the next 53 years.
Jimmy was, among so many things, a fighter. From his early 20’s on, he fought many battles with his physical being and health. Even with those battles, he worked for 45 years as a dedicated employee for Canteen Vending Company. Took care of his family, home, and vehicles. He took his family on many outings, including many yearly summer vacations at Pomona Lake where some of the family’s best memories come from. Jimmy had a very witty sense of humor that would give many a good belly laugh throughout the years. He had a very caring heart and, until he was physically unable to, Jimmy was often helping others in many ways.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence C. Smith; his mother, Reba C. (Pettit) Smith; and his brother, Ronald C. Smith.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Pat Smith; his brother, Roger Smith; his sister Pat Desko; his son, Rob Smith and wife Shannon; his daughter, Jamie Reed and husband Bryan as well as five grandchildren, Logan, Anna, Taylor, Cameryn, and Beau.
