Janet was born on May 3, 1954 in Kansas City, Missouri to Margaret & William Bland Jr. She graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1972. Janet married Joe Pestock, in 1977. Janet began working for Jefferson Smurfit as a factory worker and a Union Steward. Over a couple year period of time, the couple welcomed one child into their life December 8, 1980, Kristy Lee Pestock. Janet later changed her career path and became a pharmacy technician and last worked for Med4Home/LinCare where she loved the people she worked with. She was at a point in her life where she was looking forward to retirement.
Her daughter remembers her as a kind and loving mother who encouraged her to pursue her goals and follow her dreams.
Janet was a very caring, loving, giving, and compassionate woman who worked very hard and went through a lot of struggles in her life to accomplish her dream of finally buying her own home. Janet took great pride in her two grandchildren and was always there for a listening ear. She was considered the family communicator. Janet enjoyed dancing, singing, shopping, Bar B Que’s and of course her coffee. She was a huge Kansas City Chiefs and Royals fan. She had a great sense of humor and loved to tell stories and jokes to make people laugh.
She is preceded in death by her mother Margaret A. Bland and her father William R. Bland Jr.
Janet is survived by her daughter Kristy (Pestock) Wendt, son-in-law David Wendt Jr and their children, Janet’s grandchildren, Jordan Wagner and Morgan Wendt; her brother Mike and wife Terree Bland, her sister Barbie Deluca (Bland), and her brother Scott and his wife Renee Bland and their children. She leaves two uncles, Charles Bland and his wife Kelly, and Allan Wrinkle and an aunt, Barbara Morales. She also leaves many other nieces and nephews: Jason Bland and his wife Kathryn, Bobby Louderback and his children AnnaLina and Lilly, Scott and Renee’s children Emma and Claire, Brice Deluca, Michael Hudlemeyer and his children Isabella, Liliana, and Sebastian. She leaves several cousins, numerous and wonderful friends, and a lot of great memories.
Visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and a service in Celebration of her life at 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Saturday 04/28/2018 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 N Antioch Rd Kansas City, MO 64119 with a reception to follow at 1406 NE 107th Terr KC, MO 64155.
