Janice Marie Blowers (Sanders) age 68, died unexpectedly but peacefully on June 7, 2023. Janice was born on September 23, 1954 in Savanna, Illinois to Lester and Florence Sanders. She graduated from Nuremburg American High School in May 1973.
On November 10, 1973, Janice married Larry Blowers, who she met in her senior year of High School.
They resided in Clearfield, Pennsylvania until 1978. They then began a number of work-related moves until final settling, in December 1988 in Gladstone.
They had three children. Sarah was still born in 1974. Micah was born in 1975 and Stephen was born in 1985. Janice was a homemaker and full time parent.
Her children remember her as a loving mother who encouraged them to always do their best and to put their trust in God.
Janice was accomplished at crafts and decorating. For many years she has worked on photo scrapbooks chronicling the lives of her family and loved ones. She was a generous individual who loved helping others and practicing hospitality. She was active in Kansas City Youth for Christ as a teenager. As an adult she helped lead a large Kansas City YFC club in her home for three years and then in the facilities of Sherwood Bible Church for another ten years. For many years, she was an active and dedicated member of Sherwood Bible Church and led the Women’s ministry for thirteen years, several years overlapping with KCYFC. She often hosted gatherings in her home for church groups. The white elephant Christmas party was a crowd favorite! For several years she was a volunteer for Rachel House.
She is preceded in death by her daughter Sarah, Clearfield, PA, and her father Lester Sanders, of Gladstone
Janice is survived by her mother, Florence Sanders of Gladstone, MO, sister Kathleen Smith, Gladstone, MO; brother David Sanders of Camden Point, MO; brother Doug Sanders, Liberty, MO; sister Diane Barthel of Smithville, MO. Her husband Larry Blowers continues to reside in Gladstone, MO. Also her son Micah Blowers and his family reside in Riverside, MO and her son Stephen and his son reside in Gladstone, MO.
Janice dearly loved her children and their families and delighted in doing things with her grandchildren, Emily, Laila, Brock, and Isaac.
A Visitation for Jan will be held Wednesday, June 14, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at followed by a Celebration of Life at 7:00 PM Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri 64119. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Janice’s life.
The family would like to thank Saint Luke’s North hospital ER, OR, and ICU staff for their efforts and gentle consideration.
