James "Jim" York

Jim was born October 31, 1941 in Elmore City, Oklahoma to Harold Douglas York and Iva Mae York. Jim married Anna Joyce West in 1961. They welcomed three children into their life, James Martin (Marty) York, Tammy Renee Fore and Robert (Robby) Eric York.

In 1979, Jim married Willa June McClure in Miami, Oklahoma. They were married 43 years on February 9, 2022, only three days after his passing. Jim was a devoted stepfather to Ranae and Bill Pruitt, Rodney McClure; and grandfather to Ashley Pruitt and Adam Pruitt.

Before retirement, Jim was a Medical Sales Representative and received numerous awards and recognitions for his sales success. His company had other territories that needed Jim’s sales expertise so, in 1979, he and Willa were transferred to Chicago, Detroit and Indianapolis; and then seven years later, returned to Kansas City where they called home.

Jim never met a stranger and could talk to anyone. He loved to make people laugh. Jim’s true passion was golf. He inspired so many to play and love the game as much as he did. Above all, he was everyone’s friend. His home course was the Paradise Pointe Golf Complex, where he grew to love his golf buddies as well as his Pro Shop family.

Jim was preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother, Rusty York and a brother-in-law, Jerry Griffin.

Jim is survived by his wife of 43 years, Willa; his stepchildren, Rodney McClure of Kansas City Missouri, and Ranae and husband Bill Pruitt of Kansas City Missouri; granddaughter, Ashley Pruitt of Scottsdale, Arizona; grandson, Adam Pruitt of Kansas City, Missouri; his children, son, Marty York and wife Vivian of Ada, Oklahoma; daughter, Tammy Fore of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Robby York and fiancé Tasha Villians of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; and sister, Ruth Ann Griffin of Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Jim also had much love for his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who did not live in Kansas City.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association.
