Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Ray Hockensmith and Nina Marceille Peck Hockensmith, and his beloved wife, Laresa Jean Bloomer Hockensmith. Jim was a member of the Platte City Church of Christ. He was a retired Kansas City Police Officer and also served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carriers Enterprise and Intrepid. Jim enjoyed classic cars and working on his 1970 Chevelle.
He is survived by his brother, William (Sharon) Hockensmith; three sons, Mark (Sunni), Brian (Alicia) and Rick (Marsha); eight grandchildren, Hayley (Edwin) Gordillo, Clayton (Erin), Bret, Cameron (Hannah), Jared (Reanne), Ethan, Evan and Blake; and two great-grandchildren, Ellis and Maya Gordillo.
There will be a visitation on Friday, March 11, 2022, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel Funeral Home from 10-11am with the funeral service immediately following at 11am, both at 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, MO 64119. Burial will be at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens beside his parents and wife at 2pm on Friday, March 11, 2022 at 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133.
