He was born on January 19th, 1953, in Glendale, CA. to Jack and Olive. He was a proud Eagle Scout, who joined the US Navy after graduating from Oak Park High School. He served in the later part of the Vietnam War aboard the USS Cayuga. After being honorably discharged, he continued along the path of public service and joined the KCMO Fire Department. He served his community as a firefighter for 25 years.
Outside of work, he was a talented stained-glass glazier, curating countless pieces still on display around the KC Metro. He loved being outdoors and in retirement, he traveled to 48 states and many National Parks with his beloved dog Sam(uel L. Jackson). He was a self-proclaimed snowbird and found happiness in the beautiful desert landscapes of Quartzsite, Arizona in the winter months. When he returned to Missouri, he cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by two older brothers, Chester and Eddie (Karen); sister, Barbie (Jim); his wife, Leslie; children, Todd (Michelle), Justin, Lara (Gene), and Jana (Garrett); grandchildren, Trevor (Madison), Liam, Penelope, Ford, and Pacheco; great-grandchildren, Logan, Miles, and Rohan; & many more revered family members and friends.
His sense of humor and genuine kindness were incomparable. “What we have once enjoyed we can never lose; all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”
