Iva Lee was born August 14, 1929, just before her twin brother, Ivan, to Joseph and Bernice (Bromley) Bottorff on a farm in rural DeKalb County, MO. The twins joined two older brothers, Carl and Harold, and, a few years later, sister Sarahmae was born into the family.
After graduating Maysville High School in 1947, she began a career in banking. She worked at the Farmers Bank of Maysville before moving to Kansas City, where she worked at Commercial National Bank.
In Kansas City, she was introduced to William E. Jameson and they married in July of 1956. Iva Lee and Bill had four children: Randy, Jan, Patricia, and Charlene. After the kids were in school, Iva Lee worked part-time at Blue Valley Federal Savings & Loan. Later, she joined Bill in managing his convenience store, Bill’s Sugar Bowl, in Sugar Creek, MO. There they worked side-by-side for 27 years until retiring in 1993.
Iva Lee was a long-time member of Winnwood Baptist Church, where she raised her children and developed many friendships.
In retirement, Iva Lee and Bill enjoyed running the church food pantry as well as serving Meals on Wheels, playing bingo at HyVee, and attending her grandchildren’s Bible Quiz events.
As a widow, Iva Lee enjoyed outings with her daughters and time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as visits with extended family.
A few paragraphs about a person’s life hardly explains who that person was. Wife, Mom, Grandma, Granny, Sister, Aunt, etc. doesn’t cover it in Iva Lee’s case either. She was kind, caring, compassionate, quiet, reserved, and displayed many other qualities of Christ. Although not always outspoken, her actions in life displayed her relationship with her Savior. She will be missed by all who knew her.
Iva Lee was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, brothers Carl, Harold, and Ivan as well as sister Sarahmae Swanson. She is survived by her children Randy (Lisa) Jameson, Jan Jameson, Patricia Jameson, and Charlene (Richard) Petsch; grandchildren Emily Jameson, Eli (Joanna) Petsch, Seth (Krystal) Petsch, Joe (Michaela) Petsch, Daniel Jameson, Grace (Matthew) Rinehart, Lillian (Evan) Jones, and Julia Petsch; eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 9th at Winnwood Baptist Church, Kansas City, MO. Visitation will begin at 10 AM, followed by the service at 11 AM. Interment will be in Rouse Cemetery, Darlington, MO, at 3:00 PM.
