She was born to John and Mary Horton and was one of three children, raised in Meadville, Missouri and moved to Chillicothe, Missouri when she was 16 years old. That is where she met her late husband, Arnold Creed Vanderford, who was a watchmaker. Together the pair had three children, Gail, Eugene, and Wayne. Maxine enjoyed staying at home and being a mom.
Maxine and Arnold enjoyed 52 years of marriage. Together they traveled the world, being outside in nature and hunting for morel mushrooms. Arnold worked as a mechanic for TWA for 28 years before retiring in 1983. Maxine loved crafts, a good garage sale and being a grandmother.
Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Horton, her husband Arnold Vanderford, her little brother, David Jack, and her sister Betty Jean Crookshanks.
Maxine is survived by her three children Gail (Douglas) Smith, Gene (Marla) Vanderford, and Wayne (Terri) Vanderford, her nine grandchildren, Leslie (Michael) Moore, Michael (Jenni) Minor, Sierra (Chris) Martin, Derek Vanderford, Dana (Chavis) Clawson, Melissa Meyers, Jeffrey Vanderford, Matthew Vanderford, Kimberly (Samuel) Johnston and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be held at White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery located at 6600 NE Antioch Rd. Gladstone, MO 64119 on Wednesday November 30, 2022 from 12pm- 1pm, Funeral Service will be at 1pm and Graveside following immediately after.
