Mrs. McIntyre was born December 16, 1919 in Morrison Missouri and the family moved to Lexington Missouri early in her life. Ione attended Central College in Fayette Missouri and upon graduation enrolled in the Research Hospital nurse’s training program. Upon graduation from the nursing program in 1942 she began her career as a surgical scrub nurse. From this position she advanced to become the supervisor of surgery at Research Hospital. During World War II she continued her medical career working as a private surgical nurse for Dr. Techner who specialized in brain and back surgery.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of North Kansas City Missouri, teaching Sunday school and participating within the various activities of the church. Ione was a founding member of the Northland PEO Chapter JK, recently achieving 60 years of membership. Participating in many activities throughout her life, golf and travelling and following the K.C. Chiefs and Royals were high enjoyable priorities.
She was married to Bob McIntyre who preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter Barbara O’Dell of Excelsior Springs Missouri, two children, Ashley Clark of Saint Joseph Missouri and Ryan and Amanda O’Dell of Weatherby Lake. Son Robert McIntyre of Kansas City and wife Beth McIntyre with two sons Andrew and Molly McIntyre and Phillip McIntyre and Amanda McIntyre. Mrs. Ione McIntyre has 8 Great Grandchildren.
Visitations will be will be May 22 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Newcomer’s White Chapel Funeral Home and Cemetery, 6600 North East Antioch Road, Kansas City North. Funeral service to follow at 11:00 am.
A private graveside service will be held at Mount Moriah Cemetery at a later date.
