Henry was born June 9, 1939 in Kansas City, Missouri to Henry Norris and Mabel Alexander. Within a week of graduating Park Hill High School in 1957, he also married his high school sweetheart, Joanne Caldwell, and was sent to US Army boot camp. In his youth, Henry was very active as a Boy Scout and had the distinction of being the youngest scout to achieve the rank of Eagle in the State of the entire United States at the age of 13, he would later in life go on to serve as an Assistant Scoutmaster for his sons' scout troop.
Many would know Henry as the local butcher at A & P and Price Chopper for nearly 45 years. He had always wanted to be a farmer or work with cattle so Henry was able to retire early and play cattle herder on his ATV at the Deer Creek Land & Cattle Ranch. While on the ranch he loved hunting white tail deer, turkey, and fishing with friends and family.
Henry enjoyed playing Santa Claus for many events for over 30 years listening to many many children's Christmas wishes. Another love of Henry's was trains and all things trains. The family remembers him dragging them to train yards to look at steam engines and say of him, that he would have made a great train conductor.
Henry was a collector of antique lures rods & reels and was a member of the National Fishing Lures Collectors Club (NFLCC). He enjoyed going to lure conventions, estate sales, auctions, or any sale where he might find an old lure for his collection.
He was an extreme prankster both on the ranch and at home with family. Henry loved to travel with his wife and five kids on vacations, traveling to many points both inside the US and to Canada or Mexico, it was while on these trips that Henry instilled into his children the love and respect of nature. Traveling in the family station wagon and tent camping each night. Henry self taught himself photography - taking pictures of nature, family, and trains. Henry took it upon himself to learn at an older age how to use a computer to inventory his lures, trade or sell, as well as stay in touch with friends.
