Henry Knaack Jr., 78, of Gladstone, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at North Kansas City Hospice House. Born in Oak Park, Illinois to Henry and Anna Knaack, he spent his life between Chicago and Kansas City. Hank graduated from Illinois Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a United States Army Veteran and was employed by Knappco in Parkville, Missouri for 16 years. Hank was active in the King of Kings Lutheran Church choir and served as the head usher of his team. Hank loved to sing and spent over 48 years as a member of the West Towns Championship Barbershop Chorus and also sang with the Chord Chums; a comedy quartet, for 14 years. He was always an avid Chicago sports fan, in particular, Cubs Baseball (culminating in the 2016 World Series Championship after a 108 year drought, Hank’s lifelong wish finally come true). In addition, he loved Bears Football and Blackhawks Hockey. After retiring, he enjoyed wintering in Clearwater Beach Florida with his wife and the many snowbird friends at the Regatta Beach Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, building furniture and toys for his many grandchildren. Photography, golf and travel were some of the other things he loved to do. Hank is survived by his wife Jeanette (Nass) of 31 years, his children, Greg Knaack of Mt. Pleasant, Mi., Kathy Biesemeyer (Hussar) of Liberty, Mo., Laura Cooper (Hussar) of Wichita Ks., Dana McCormack (Knaack) of Sarasota Fl., and Jeff Garvey of Sarasota, Fl. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Destinee, Samantha, KC, Shane, Grace, Matt, Jairus and Sarah and great grandchild Nora Jane. In addition, two sisters, Ann and Hilda. The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 25, 2017 from 10:00AM until 11:30AM with the funeral service immediately follow. Services will be held at the King of Kings Lutheran Church 1701 NE 96th Street, Kansas City, MO 64155. A Luncheon will immediately follow the service. There will be a private family burial White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
