Garhett Eugene Richards

Garhett was born prematurely at 35 weeks and 2 days on October 17, 2019 at North Kansas City Hospital. He weighed 5 pounds 2 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

Garhett was diagnosed with TAPVR, a congenital heart defect affecting the return of oxygenated blood to the heart. He was transferred to Children’s Mercy Adele Hall Campus and underwent successful open-heart surgery on October 30, but was later overwhelmed with complications.

Though our time with Garhett lasted only 25 days, he touched numerous lives and was well loved by many.

He was greeted in Heaven by great-grandparents Geneva Childress, Eleanor Murphy, Jackie Copeland, William and Heidi Brown, Anthony Occhipinto, Jerry Richards, Bob Roberts, Harry and Ettie Fair.

He is survived by his parents-Charles Jr. and Katelyn Richards; sister-Geneva Eleanor Richards; maternal grandparents- Stephen and Paula Brown, Craig Eugene and Teresa Childress; maternal great-papa- Ronald Eugene Childress, paternal grandparents- Charles Richards Sr., Tad and Noelle Heater; paternal great-grandparents Mary Occhipinto and Elizabeth Roberts; and numerous aunts, uncles, great aunts and uncles, and cousins.
