Gabi was born February 16, 2008 to Elaine (Dusch) and Richard McBride.
Gabi had a very vibrant and beautiful personality that touched everyone she met and flowed over into her daily life. She had a huge passion for all animals, but she especially loved horseback riding, equestrian therapy, and fostering kittens.
Gabi was an adventurous girl and loved traveling. She and her mom took “the trip of a lifetime” during the height of Covid. They took off on a 30 day camping adventure and visited Las Vegas, the Grand Canyon, and the cliff dwellings in New Mexico. Other travels also include Niagra Falls, the Rocky Mountains, and trips to the lake with her grandparents and several trips to California and Florida. During Gabi’s trips to the ocean, she was able to go whale watching and see a beautiful pod of Orcas that even had a newborn baby swimming with them. This spiked an interest in becoming a Marine Biologist. Gabi’s favorite week of the year was the week she spent at Tourette’s Camp. While at camp, she found peace and her heart was always happy.
Gabi had many talents that included playing the trumpet in the marching band, swimming, and being on stage for theater. Gabi’s mom says she was “swimming before she could walk”. Aside from extracurricular talents, Gabi was talented in her academics. She was part of the gifted program from a young age and jumped feet first into high school and had big dreams of attending an Ivy League School upon graduation. Gabi also won the Battle of the Brains coopetition at Science City in Kansas City. Among her other talents, Gabi loved to cook. Her mom says she made the best ramen she’s ever had. Gabi was also declared the “Guac Maker of the Family.”
Gabi had a love for helping everyone from friends and family to anyone who needed help. She and her mom frequently made sandwiches for the homeless. Gabi advocated for friends and made sure they knew how important they were to her. However, Gabi’s big personality also demanded answers and she would argue with anyone who would listen; of course, religion and politics were favorite topics.
Gabi had recently found peace in her spiritual crystals and metaphysical beings. She enjoyed holistic healing, love, and light with her crystals.
Gabi was preceded in death by her Grandpa William Dusch.
Gabi is survived by her mom Elaine (Dusch) McBride; grandma Patricia Dusch; Uncle Ken Dusch, who was like a dad to her; cousins, Maxwell, Jackson, Samuel, Lily and their spouses; Dad, Richard McBride; 3 half siblings, Imunique, Donovan, and Boston; Grandma Agnes Johnson; extended family; and a host of chosen friends and family whom she loved so dearly.
In Gabi’s death, she remains a hero through organ donations. She has saved the life of a 10 year old boy with her heart, and matched with several others. Her gift of life continues to reach people near and far.
