A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Linden Baptist Church, Gladstone, Missouri. Pastor Terry Webster will officiate.
A visitation celebrating Ettie's life will be held at 10:00 am until the time of service.
Ettie was born October 3rd, 1934 on the family farm north of Callao, Missouri, to Henry Lambert Geerlings and Inize Lee Adams Geerlings. She graduated from Callao High School in 1952 and received her Associates Degree from Hannibal-LaGrange college in Hannibal, Missouri in 1954. There she met her husband, Robert Daniel Miles.
After graduating she moved to Kansas City and worked for Hallmark Cards. Ettie and Bob were married January 28th, 1956 and moved to Arkansas where Bob finished his degree at Ouachita Baptist College. Ettie and Bob returned to Kansas City to raise their three children and pastor various churches in the west-central Missouri region. Ettie began working for the North Kansas City school district in the food service area in 1978. She retired after 20 years of service in 1998. After retiring, Ettie volunteered to manage the student’s food pantry at the Mid-Western Baptist Seminary for 13 years.
Ettie was an active member of Linden Baptist Church. She was a devout Christian who enjoyed supporting all areas of church ministry including teaching adult Sunday school classes for 28 years. She dedicated her life to serving the Lord and her family.
Ettie Alice is preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Elizabeth, John, Mina Weil, George, Lee, and Fred. She leaves behind her husband Robert, sons Dan and Alan, daughter Judy Greener (Joel). Siblings: Katie Graham and Lambert Geerlings. Grandchildren: Bobby Miles (Jacalyn), James Miles, Morgan Greener (Makinzi), Emily Greener Peters (Adam), and Claire Greener. Great Grandchildren: Benjamin Miles and Esther Joy Miles. Nieces and nephews: Darlene Weil Green, Ann Geerlings Smith (Todd), Stacey Geerlings Conrad (Ben), Michael Geerlings, Kelly Graham Abraham (Steven), Matthew Geerlings, great nieces and nephews.
