Doris Clark, Gladstone, Mo., passed away July 16, 2021. Doris was born September 20, 1924 in Rockville, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the Celebration of Life to begin at 11:00 a.m. Both will be held at Antioch Bible Baptist Church, 800 N.E. 72nd Street, Gladstone, Missouri.
Because of the resurgence of the COVID-19 virus, the family requests that guidelines be observed.
Doris was an true ROYALS fan and in her honor the family will be attired in Royals memorabilia. Feel free to join them in wearing anything "Royals".
She was the last of six children born to Gilbert Lafayette and Bessie Ford Ammons. Her five siblings predeceased her: Oma May Attebery, Hazel Bishop, Glenn Ammons, Fern Lewis and Margie Hoffman.
She came to the Big City (Kansas City) where her two sisters lived (Hazel and Fern). She got a job and a roommate and they both enjoyed going to the PlaMor to dance. That is where she met her husband, Harold Clark, who was in the Army radio school. He was a blond, good-looking soldier from LosAngeles. After a whirlwind courtship (three months) they married, June 6, 1943. Harold preceded her in death in December, 1995.
Their marriage produced four daughters: Sharon (Mike) Quinn, Linda (Rich) Haynes, Vickey Long, Angel (Brad) Ireland. Doris is survived by five grandchildren: Kristin (Dave) Duello, Brett (Rose) Haynes, Scott (Riah) Long, Elizabeth (Kyle) Coleman and Kyle (Makenzie) Christian, and two bonus grandsons, Beau Ireland and Bransen (Jessica) Ireland; twelve great grandkids Madison and Cameron Duello; Liam and Connor Haynes; Kaitlynn (Anthony) Thomason; Brandon VonRader; Jessica Videl; Hannah (Spencer) Bowers; Rachel Cook & Nate David; Brian Lewis; Chase Coleman; Olivia Christian. One great-great grandchild, Scarlett and one on the way, Eren. She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was very involved with her daughter's school activities. That carried over to her grandchildren's games and school activities. She loved her family and enjoyed all the many times together.
Doris loved hearing and telling jokes. She enjoyed sewing and working puzzles out of the K.C. Star. She enjoyed her time at water aerobics and made many friends there. She and Harold liked traveling and later in life she traveled with friends.
Doris was a good wife, great mother, special grandmother, fun & positive aunt and a caring friend. She will be missed by many.
