Dora Mae was born April 3, 1934 in Roach, Missouri to Lorenzo Edward Cyrus and Flossie Lavonna (Gibson) Cyrus. Dora Mae was extremely active in her church, Winnwood Baptist Church, KC, MO as a member of the WMU (Women’s Missionary Union), VBS (Vacation Bible School), teaching 4th grade Sunday School, and various other activities since their joining in 1967.
Dora Mae’s priority was taking care of her family, but after they grew up she worked at several part time jobs, Donut King, The Dollar ($) Shop, North Kansas City Hospital Newborn Nursery, WeeCare Day Care at Winnwood Baptist Church. On January 6, 1951, she married Alvie James Knox in the Lake of the Ozarks area. Together they raised their 2 daughters in the KC, MO area.
Dora Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Alvie James Knox; her parents; her sisters, Theo Rogers and Margaret Pierce.
Survivors include her 2 daughters, Linda Evans and Wanda (Paul) Miscavish; a granddaughter, Karla Massey; grandsons, James (Jennifer) and Stephen Miscavish; her great grandchildren, Shawn Cates, Blade and Drake Miscavish; her sister, Edna Bonacker; her brother, Loren Cyrus; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
