Donald Eugene Summers, 86, passed away October 21, 2015 at the Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be Sat. October 24th from 9-10 am at D.W. Newcomer’s Sons White Chapel with services to follow at 10 am. Don proudly served our country in the Korean War as Corporal 1st Calvary Division 77 Field Artillery. He was a member of both the Joplin and Blue Springs Elks Lodge. He served as Exalt Ruler from 1981-1982 as well as a State Officer for 2 years in the Joplin Lodge. He was also a member of the North Kansas City Jaycees. He was very proud to be a Chairman for the Christmas Baskets for both the Elks and Jaycees. He is survived by his wife, Mary of 62 years; daughter, Debbie Summers; son, Steve (Dawna) Summers; 4 grandchildren, Brandon (Kate), Leela (Russell), Calla (Caleb) and Hanna (Ben); and 2 great grandsons, Chase and Brayden. Don was a loving husband, dad, grandpa and great grandpa that will be truly missed.
