He was born on September 8, 1947, in Sikeston, Missouri, the son of Clarence Jr. and Rosella (Yarabrough) Collins.
Dennis retired as an Engineer with Soo Line Railroad. He later received his associate’s degree in culinary arts. He loved history, current events, cooking, fishing, and the outdoors. He loved family, family celebrations, having big meals together, telling bad jokes, singing, and making the most of every holiday.
Dennis was a caring and witty individual who loved sports, fishing, spending time at Truman Lake, and his dogs. He was passionate about spending time with Sherry and his grandkids. He was one of the most up-to-date people we know, as he was on top of every national and global issue and event. He volunteered in many organizations and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was very committed to his faith and his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Jr. and Rosella Collins; and brother Mark Collins.
Dennis is survived by his daughter Michna, son Shaun, and Sharon McAuliffe, of the home; Mark McAuliffe and wife Ivy, of Kearney, Missouri; Annie Baldwin and husband Justin, of Gladstone, Missouri; and grandchildren Lily and Thomas McAuliffe, Jenna, and Jessa Baldwin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to North Care Hospice House, North Kansas City, Missouri.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors, and first responders who have been invaluable in helping provide care for Dennis. Your commitment and service are greatly appreciated.
A visitation for Dennis will be held Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM with interment in the White Chapel Cemetery.
