At an early age he accepted Christ as his Savior. Family is comforted knowing that he is with Jesus and they will see him again someday.
David Gott was born November 3, 1945, in Brimson, Missouri, to Walter and Cordie Gott. He attended Trenton High School and graduated in 1963. He married Dorthy Boon on June 19, 1965. He worked at Hallmark Cards for 32 years as a machine operator. When he retired, he and Dorthy spent 6 years volunteering with Mobile Missionary Assistance Program, volunteered for Rio Grande Bible Institute in Edinburg, TX for 7 years, worked at several RV parks across the Midwest and in May of 2020 finished their 11th year working for the campgrounds at Smithville Lake.
David was a hard worker, mechanically inclined, and could fix anything that was broken. He always loved a good challenge. He and Dorthy instilled character and hard work in their children’s lives. Throughout their years growing up, they had several paper routes and a lawn-mowing business. He also taught them to be thrifty. Notorious for finding bicycles in disrepair, he would fix them to be like new. One of David’s greatest joys was serving others. He was always willing to spend his time helping friends.
David is survived by his wife, Dorthy (Boon) Gott of 56 years of wedded bliss; sister Brenda Coffman of Trenton, Missouri; children Michelle Davis (Paul), Anthony Gott, Brandon Gott (Lora) all in the Kansas City area; grandchildren Alyn Baker (John), Trenton Gott, Blake Gott, Lily Gott; great grandchildren Natalie Baker, Ryan Cade and Jackson Baker; several nephews and nieces.
David was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
A funeral is scheduled for Monday, June 21 at 12 noon with a visitation starting at 11 a.m. at Antioch Bible Baptist Church in Gladstone, Missouri. Graveside services will be held immediately after the funeral at White Chapel Cemetery in Gladstone, Missouri.
