David Linn Golden, 82, of Kansas City, MO, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 16, 2025. He was born on August 23, 1942, in Kansas City, KS, to the late William Matthew Golden and Dorothy Lucille Golden.
Dave was the beloved husband of Sandra Fay Golden for 61 wonderful years. He was the devoted and loving father of Dana Golden Igoe (Christopher) and Scott Golden, and the proud "Papa" of Preston and Jackson Igoe. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Pamela Wilbanks and Cindy Weber.
Dave grew up in the Northland and graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1960. A talented athlete from a young age, he had a deep love for baseball-a passion that stayed with him throughout his life. He spent his childhood on sandlots and ball fields, and went on to play during high school and while serving in the Army. He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. Dave went on to serve his country as a proud member of the 69th Brigade of the Kansas National Guard during the Vietnam era.
Following his honorable discharge, Dave began a successful career in sales with Sonoco, where his natural charisma and strong work ethic quickly set him apart. He later continued his professional journey with MPP Company, building on his expertise in the automotive industry. In 1986, he founded Golden Distributing Company, which became his greatest career achievement. He grew the business with unwavering integrity, passion, and dedication.
A true people person, Dave had a dynamic personality, an unwaveringly positive outlook, and an innate ability to make others feel seen, heard, and valued. His warmth and humor were matched only by his deep love for his family. Above all else, Dave was a caring and loving father, a devoted husband, and a proud grandpa-roles he cherished more than anything. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
