

Curtisine Felton was born on September 25, 1961, in Chicago, Illinois to Tennie Mae Felton and Curtis Watson. She was the fourth of eight siblings. She confessed hope in Christ and was baptized at an early age at Christian Temple Baptist Church, under the late, Rev. Joseph Evans and later joined Greater Harvest Baptist Church under the late Rev. Henry Bracken.
Curtisine was a graduate of O.W. Holmes Elementary School, John Hope Middle School and Edward Tilden High School. She was always eager to learn new things as she worked at several businesses before taking on a position at the Society Security Administration office, and later employed for many years with the US Postal Service. Growing up, Curtisine enjoyed reading, creative writing, playing cards, listening to music, dancing, skating, hosting events and parties. She knew many people, she was the social butterfly, a courageous person with a welcoming spirit. Her greatest event accomplishment was June 16,1984, she sponsored a fashion show at the historical Bismarck Hotel, downtown Chicago. The benefit provided support to help teenage girls and women in the community in various areas of needs.
Curtisine grew up on the Southside of Chicago and was affectionally called “Curt”, she was beautiful, intelligent, and outspoken person that would do anything for anyone and always lit up the room with her infectious smile. Curt was known for her big heart and generosity even during challenging times. Her good nature and kind loving spirit endeared all who both knew her and will miss her dearly.
Curt loved her family deeply; she was proud of being a mother and grandmother. She was a woman of faith and compassion, her trust in God was the joy of her strength. Her genuine love for others was a gift she displayed freely. She believed strongly in helping others, an attribute she inherited from her mom. Curtisine was a great listener to those who needed someone to talk to, food to the hungry and a prayer for those who needed words of encouragement.
Curtisine sunset transition was August 19, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri. She leaves to cherish her loving memories two children: Nefertari C. Stoner of Kansas City, MO and Hasan R. Stoner of Moline, IL; three granddaughters, Jasmyn’e Bufford, Janaell’e Bufford and Q’aylee Daniels, devoted parents, her mother, Tennie M. Fitts, her father Curtis Watson and loving stepmother Francis Watson, preceded in death, five sisters: Cheryl A. Stoner, preceded in death, Sandra K. Richardson (Ponda), Monique Felton, Samantha Dancy (Maurice) and Samina Davis (Ronald); two brothers, Henry Montgomery (Dajuana), Dwight L. Felton, preceded in death, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Service and Birthday Celebration for Curtisine will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at Serbian Social Center, 18550 Stony Island Avenue, Lansing, Illinois 60438.
