In Loving Memory of Charles E. Barnes May 30th, 1936 – December 18th, 2023. A devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Charlie was born in Cynthiana Kentucky. He made an impact on all who were fortunate to know him. Charlie proudly served his country in the Army and was an honorable veteran.
As a dedicated husband, Charlie shared a profound bond of love with his wife, Joycelyn Barnes. Together 43 years, they navigated life's journey hand in hand, building a foundation of love and resilience that served as an inspiration to all who witnessed their enduring partnership. Traveling was their true passion.
In addition to his military service, Charlie dedicated almost 30 years of his life to working at Continental Bakery, where he exemplified hard work and commitment. After retirement he enjoyed all the friends he met while working for Liberty school district.
A loving father, Charlie was the pillar of support for his children, providing unconditional love.
Preceded in death by Kevin Barnes, survived by Kerry Barnes (Sue), Kelly Barnes, Kyle Barnes (Jennifer) and four step children, Debbie Newkirk (Jeff), David Devolder (Shelly), Denise Yates and Jimmy Devolder.
His eyes sparkled with pride and delight as he watched his 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren grow.
One of Charlie's greatest passions was found in fishing and hunting. Along with having a scotch, cigar and watching old westerns.
Charlie leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and appreciation for the simple joys of life. May Charlie's soul rest in eternal peace, and may his memory continue to be a source of comfort and inspiration to us all.
Join us in remembering Charlie at the visitation at 10:00am Tuesday, January 9th 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo parish, followed by the funeral service at 11:00am. Lunch will be served in the Borromeo hall immediately following the service.
