Chad graduated from Oak Park High School in 1980. His first job was in a body shop. Chad also worked as a prepress department supervisor at Henry Wurst, Inc. Chad’s career ended with his final position being a prepress supervisor at Treasure Chest.
Chad loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman with several mounted trophies in his collection. Chad’s hobbies included collecting Kansas City Chiefs memorabilia as well he was a craftsman who made custom knives. Any loved one lucky enough to receive one of his creations received something beautiful to treasure.
Later in his life, Chad took on the role as his father’s caretaker, which fulfilled his dad’s wishes to live his remaining years in his home.
Chad married the love of his life, Rhonda, on August 30, 2020. After a friendship spanning more than 30 years, fate brought them together. Although their marriage was brief in time, it was filled with love, laughter and mutual respect.
After a cancer diagnosis in August of 2022, Chad passed away peacefully with his loving wife, Rhonda and his sister, Pam by his side.
Chad was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Freda Thompson; his brother, Robert Thompson III; his grandparents, Earl and Thelma Thompson; and his grandmother, Elizabeth Stevens.
Chad is survived by his wife, Rhonda; his sons, Troy (Jolea) and Zachary; his sister, Pam George; his nieces Monica (Glen) Spreitzer and Tami (Kile) Reynolds as well as many other family members and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Chad’s memory to the American Cancer Society.
