Carl Wayne Ewing

He was born on September 27, 1937, to Merle and Opal Ewing in Chula, MO. Carl leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and cherished memories that will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Carl grew up in Chillicothe where he attended Chillicothe High School and enjoyed playing baseball, football, and track. After graduation, Carl started a thirty-seven-year career with Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, MO, where he met his wife of sixty-five years, Darlene. Throughout his life, Carl embraced a multitude of passions. He enjoyed bowling, golf, softball, baseball, billiards, and playing cards with friends and family. These activities not only brought joy to his life but also allowed him to touch the lives of countless others. Carl enjoyed watching all his grandchildren participate in youth, high school, and college activities.

Carl was a long-time member of the Liberty Church of Christ where he served as an elder for many years.

Survivors include wife, Darlene, one daughter, Carlene Heiman (Tim), and three sons David (Judi), Tim (Leslie), Danny (Melinda), and one sister, Cheryl Cade. Nine grandchildren; Matthew Heiman (Sarah), Kyle Heiman (Taylor), Kaitlin Corcoran (Justin), Abbie Doakes (Reece), Halie Hukill (Justin), Garrett Ewing, Tyla Ewing, Trotter Ewing, and Treven Ewing. Five great-grandchildren; Scout Heiman, Sloan Heiman, Campbell Heiman, Eloise Heiman, and Theodore Corcoran.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Merle and Opal Ewing and his sister Karen Ireland.

Carl will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

The visitation will be held at Liberty Church of Christ, Liberty, MO, on Thursday, July 27, 2023, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, July 28, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

Friends and family are invited to join in commemorating the memories and celebrating the life of Carl.
