He was born on June 4, 1957, in Hamilton, Bermuda. Bruce was the beloved husband of Corinne Hiller, whom he married on October 8, 1988.
Bruce was a loving and proud father to his sons Timmothy-1994 and Andrew-1996. He cherished his family and celebrated 35 years of marriage with Corinne by going on a cruise in March 2023. Bruce was a dedicated scout leader, helping his sons and other boys achieve the prestigious Eagle Rank. He had a passion for cooking, especially during campouts, and enjoyed spending time with his colleagues in Westport. Bruce was also a fan of science fiction, including Star Trek, Star Wars, and the TV show Dark Shadows, which inspired his confirmation name of Barnabus.
Bruce is survived by his loving wife Corinne Hiller; sons Timothy and Andrew Hiller; sisters Charlene Combs and Monica Miller; brother-in-law Marc Gautschi and wife Heather; nieces and nephews Laura, Kevin, Brett, Dean, Cameo, Amber and husband Derek, Clayton, Cyle and wife Sidney, Connie and fiancé Logan; as well as great nieces and nephews Owen, Russel and Lily; the colorful parrot Alex and the ornery cockatiel Mojo.
Bruce's educational journey began at First Ward Elementary in Plattsmouth, Nebraska and continued at DeDeDo Junior High School in Guam. He proudly graduated from Belton High School in 1976. Bruce went on to take courses at the University of Missouri and the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
In his professional life, Bruce worked as a computer programmer, eventually becoming a Senior Programmer Analyst for Layne Christensen in Kansas City from 1996 to 2014. He then moved to Texas and continued working until January 2016. Prior to that, Bruce worked at Fred Pryor Seminars from 1988 to 1996 and at the KC ATA.
Bruce was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where his services will be held on Saturday, November 25th, 2023, at 11:30 am. The church is located at 900 NE Shady Lane Drive, Kansas City, Missouri 64118. Following the service, a lunch will be provided by the ladies of the church in Borromeo Hall, located downstairs from the church. Monetary donations can be made to the ladies of the church at this time.
The Hiller family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at the North Kansas City Hospice House and St. Luke’s Hospital, Plaza. Especially those on the 5th floor at St. Lukes whose loving care was constant throughout his many visits.
