Betty Jean Garzee

Betty Jean Garzee, 84 years old, passed away June 29, 2023 peacefully at her home at St. Mary’s Manor where she resided for the last 10 years. With her and by her side were her two daughters, Vickie Smith and Judi Camerlynck. She was born July 8, 1938.

She went to North Kansas City High School until 1955 and graduated with a GED later in life. She was a Beautician for 30 plus years at Zillah’s Beauty Salon and also worked for 25 years at Factory Motor Parts, answering their phone, her voice being the signature greeting and referred to as the “Voice of FMP”.

She was a loving mother, always putting her three children first. Also an animal lover, she enjoyed training and showing dogs including a Boxer, Collies, German Shepherds, Shetland Sheepdogs and Papillion’s. In her apartment life she had Registered Persian cats, her favorite was a silver tipped Persian named Gabriella, Gabby for short.

Her other hobbies and talents included playing the piano, painting and drawing and sewing most of her children’s clothes.

Betty is preceded in death by her father, Victor Eugene Cordell; her mother, Lulabell (Sheets) Cordell; her son, Mark A Garzee; her sister, Sharon Cordell Fesmire; her ex-husband and father of her children, Ellsworth A Garzee.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Vickie Smith and her husband Leonard of Cleveland, MO, daughter Judi Camerlynck and her husband Maurice of Independence, MO, Granddaughters Amy Patel and her husband Amit of Stilwell, KS, Kayce Erikson and her husband Justin of Grain Valley, MO and Katie Camerlynck of Independence, Mo, and grandson, Mark Sperl of Kentucky.

Betty has 3 great grandchildren, Avann Patel and Parker and Emily Erikson.

A Memorial Service will be held for Betty on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. Visitation is from 1:00 to 2:00 PM followed by the Memorial Service at Newcomer's White Chapel Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone, Missouri 64119. Her eternal resting place will be beside her sister and parents at the White Chapel Cemetery.
