Alice Kay Reynolds

Alice Kay Gordon Reynolds, 75, of Kansas City passed away Saturday, October 28, 2017 at North Care Hospice House. Services will be held at First Baptist Church North Kansas City, 2205 Iron Street, NKC. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 2 from 5:00 – 8:00pm and Funeral will be Friday at 10:00am. Born October 7, 1942 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Kathleen Gordon. Alice is a North Kansas City High School alumni, class of 1960. Alice received an Associates degree in Arts from Maple Woods Community College in 1975; a Montessori Teaching Certificate from the Montessori Institute of America in 1976; a Bachelor of Arts from Ottawa University in 1980; Master of Arts in Special Education from UMKC in 1986; and her Education Specialist Degree from UMKC in Reading in 1989. She was a 19 year employee of the North Kansas City School District, working at various schools throughout. She also spent several years as a teacher at Clay Platte Children’s House Montessori School. Through the years she also worked at the Crown Center Ice Terrace and Worlds of Fun, providing hours of unsupervised fun for her children. Alice was an avid Kansas City Royals fan; she and her husband, Mike, were season ticket holders. In her retirement she became very active in local community theatre. She was extremely active in her church and taught countless children in Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and chaperoned many mission trips and summer camps. She was a Master of the Grand Cross of Color through the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, a Masonic youth service organization. Alice was very passionate about her grandchildren, an avid reader, loved to travel, enjoyed swimming, and regularly gathered with members of her high school graduating class. Her favorite way to spend her time was with her family and she found tremendous joy in large family dinners and holiday celebrations with all of her loved ones around her. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to her grandchildren’s education fund. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Edwin and Alyce Kathleen Gordon; her grandson, Joshua Gordon Rose; her nephews, Charles Richard Harvin and Harold Gordon Harvin, and her son-in-law, Brian Charles Rose. Alice is survived by Michael Reynolds, husband of 52 years; son, Patrick (Leigh), daughter, Kathleen, and daughter, Reynda Rose; grandchildren Jake, Tessa, Wilson, Cameron, Mallory, Allison, Jane, and Caleb; sister, Patricia (Charlie) Harvin; niece, Vannakay (David) Hurnevich; brother-in-law, David Reynolds.
