Juanita was a stay-at-home mom and worked at Children’s Mercy Hospital before retiring. After Glenn’s passing, she worked in a local department store’s baby department. Many expectant moms loved having a “grandmother’s opinion” of what might be the best purchase for their new arrival.
Juanita and Glenn moved to Kansas City in the early 1950’s, purchasing their dream home in 1957. Both enjoyed the large garden they had, spending numerous hours picking and preserving home-grown vegetables. Juanita was a pro at canning and preserving food, sharing that knowledge with anyone that wanted to learn.
Juanita was an excellent cook – holiday meals were feasts and every meal was delicious. Everyone had favorite dishes, one favorite was an apple salad that her grandchildren were especially fond of. Her pot-roast was her daughter’s favorite and a requested birthday dinner for years. Juanita’s bread and butter pickles were some of the best!
Juanita enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching old westerns, and working in her flower beds. Many mornings, she would enjoy coffee on her covered deck and read the newspaper. Juanita was happiest at home, happy to see family or friends when they would stop by.
Juanita is survived by her two daughters, Janice Tyson and Jo Gayle (Kim) Miller; her son, David Williams; grandchildren, Wendi Daniel, Kymberly Miller, Lyndsey (Ozzie) d’ Happart, Ethan Williams, Nathanial (Kathleen) Williams, and Brittan Williams; seven great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; and many others who will miss her dearly.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Juanita’s honor are suggested to Lone Rock Cemetery in Windyville, Missouri or Riverview-Sweaney Cemetery in Buffalo, Missouri or Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri.
Juanita’s family would like to thank Charlie Lewis for her help and advice and the staff of Ignite Medical Resort for such good care. The family would also like to thank KC Hospice for their care during Juanita’s final weeks. Everyone was so supportive, and her family is grateful for their devotion to Juanita.
