It is with heavy hearts that we the family say goodbye to our Superhero, Wayne Metcalfe, on February 5, 2018 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with loving family at his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of Russell and Catherine (Saccary) Metcalfe.
Wayne was employed with Devco, TTC as a trans-operator in Ontario, then retired home to Cape Breton in 2009 and began to drive cab. When Wayne wasn’t driving in his cab, he spent many hours with his family playing golf or kicking his boots up at Branch 3.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Corrinne (Donnie) Boutilier, son Kenneth (Andrea) Metcalfe; sisters Rose (Rick) Wilcox, Anne (Claude) Milley and Peggy (Fred Boutilier) Metcalfe; grandchildren Justin, Caylum, Ashlynn and Hezzie. He is also survived by his Aunts Willena Arsenault and Patsy Mills; nieces Angela, Allison, Denise, Cherice and special nephew Christian. Besides his parents, Wayne is predeceased by wife Bertha Anne (Bailey) and nephew Dougie Metcalfe. Also left to morn is Tim Kelloway and his children.
Visitation for Wayne will be held on Thursday, February 8, 2018 from 3-7pm at Patten Funeral Home 71, Union Street, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Friday, February 9, 2018 at 2:00pm at Patten Funeral Home. Donations may be made to Palliative Care Cape Breton or “The Cape”.
