Mary Napier

Mary was the eldest daughter of James and Beatrice (Sharpe) Murphy. Born in Glace Bay , and moved to Port Morien at the tender age of 5.

Mom started at Brookside School, and Gowrie School, then to Morrison High School prior to entering nursing school and becoming a graduate of the class of 1957 of the Glace Bay General Hospital.

Mary worked as a nurse in Glace Bay until 1986.

Mom was a member of several church organizations. She was a member of the Queen Victoria Rebekah Lodge #63. She held the positions of Noble Grand, Past Noble Grand, District Deputy President of the Rebekah Assembly for the Atlantic Provinces, President of District 17 District Association of Rebekah's

Mom and her sister Dorothy Gouthro and cousins Donna Buchanan, Marguerite MacKillop and the late Ruth Brann, met weekly for the Cousins Craft Club. They shared many hours of tea, treats and laughter.

Mom is survived by daughters: Jean Kelloway, Catherine O'Neil, Heather Napier (Kirk) and Norma Napier (Derrick). Grandchildren: James Kelloway (Rhonda), Michael Kelloway (Holly), Ian Landry (Lacey), Courtney Landry (Adam), Anthony Napier.

Great-Grandchildren: Nathan McInnis (Emily), Keegan Axworthy, Sadie and Ethan Landry, Madilynn and Lucy Kelloway.

Godchildren: Heather Hunt, Tony Barrett, Bobby Barrett and Lee Snow

Brothers : Kent (Joan) Murphy, Robert (Margo) Murphy and Sister Dorothy (Irvin) Gouthro

Sisters-in-law: Torrey Murphy and Christine (Napier) Hickey

She is also survived by numerous cousins, niece's, nephew's and grand and great niece's and nephew's.

Predeceased by Husband James (Jimmy) Napier, Eldest Daughter Debbie Landry, Brother Harold (Butch) Murphy, Father and Mother in law John and Katie Napier and Step Mother i law Sadie Napier. Sons in law Arthur Kelloway, Donnie Teasdale John O'Neil and Ron MacDonald.

Visitation Friday March 28 2025, 2-4/ 7-9 at Patten Funeral Home, Glace Bay.

Funeral service Saturday March 29 2025 at 2pm at St Paul's Anglican Church, Port Morien. Reception to follow service in Kent Hall. Internment to be at a later date.
