It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather Gerald Joseph Nightingale on his 79th birthday August 16,2018, at the Glace Bay Hospital with loving family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay he was the son of the late Albert and Rachel (Burke) Nightingale.
Gerald was employed with DEVCO for 25 years until his retirement. He loved to spend his pass time hunting, fishing and took great pride and many hours tying and preparing his flies for his next fishing trip. Gerald’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. Gerald was a long time fan of the Toronto Maple leafs and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Gerald is survived by his loving wife Mae; daughter Susie (Dean); sons Jerry “Moose” (Shelly) and Murray (Katherine); grandchildren Jessica, Alex, Breton and Cody; sisters Karen, Marie (Fred), Eileen, Louise, Colleen (Billy) and Diane (Gord) and brother Albert (Sharon).
Besides his parents he was predeceased by brothers Johnny and Billy; sister Kathleen (Sis).
In following Gerald’s wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St Glace Bay. Funeral service will take place on Wednesday August 22,2018 at 1pm in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
