Born in Sydney he was the son of the late William and Irene Bishop.
Donnie was employed for 42 years with the Sydney Steel Plant, he retired as Superintendent of the Rolling Mill. Donnie was also a member of St. Mary’s Anglican Church where he held many rolls; member of the Choir, Previously served as Warden, Parish Council, Lay Reader, Men’s club, Social Club, Colleries Parish Council Member, Regional Council, Camp Bretondean- Camp Committee Member and Member Tyrian Youth 45 Masonic Lodge. He was also involved in our community, he was previously a Board Member for Transition House, Supported Meals on Wheels by cooking and delivering meals and also in his early years taught Air Cadets.
Donnie enjoyed life he played in Brass Bands in the area, Built the family cottage in Mira where he enjoyed for 45 years, he also enjoyed sports (Toronto Blue Jays, Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs and the CB Screaming Eagles). After his retirement he learned to cook and bake-desserts were his specialty.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years Lorna, daughter Donna Lynn (Scott Hutchinson), son Kenneth (Michelle) and grandchildren Landon and Sydney Bishop.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by sisters Margaret (Jim) MacInnis and Gwen (Jim) Couglan; brothers Bill (Cynthia) Bishop and Ken (Donna) Bishop.
In following Donnie’s Wishes cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home. Visitation will take place on Sunday March 19, 2023 from 6-8pm In Patten Funeral Home.
