William R “Dick” Patton, age 84, of Gering, Nebraska, passed away on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Regional West Medical Center. His memorial service will be held Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Park with Pastor David Mellenkamp officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the FE Warren Air Force Honor Guard and American Legion Post #36, Gering. Dick was born January 31, 1938 in Kimball, Nebraska to William B and Annye (Miller) Patton. He received his early education in Banner County schools graduating from Banner County High School. He attended Colorado State University for two years.
He married Glynette Anderson on November 27, 1960 in Gering, Nebraska and made their home in Banner County. Dick farmed and ranched in Banner County until moving to Gering in 1990. Dick also enjoyed his 30 years of work as a crop claims adjuster.
He was a member of Wyoming National Guard (Air Guard), Thala Chi Fraternity at CSU, Lions Club, Elks Lodge, Masonic Lodge (Kimball), Board of Directors with Kimball County Co-op and Banner County Agriculture Board.
He is survived by his daughter Daughn (John) Trapp and grandson Richard Trapp and daughter Kaleigh Patton.
He was preceded in Death by his parents Bill and Annye Patton, his wife Glynette Patton and baby sister Ralletta Patton.
