Ronald Dale Rupp, age 87, of Gering, Nebraska, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior with his family alongside him, on August 15, 2022, at Regional West Medical Center, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. His memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 19, at Gering Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dale Brown officiating. Inurnment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. The family requests casual attire. A cremation was held. There will be no visitation.
Ron was born on February 20th, 1935 , to Dave and Mary (Starkell) Rupp in Scottsbluff Nebraska. He received his early education at Roosevelt elementary and completed his education at Scottsbluff Senior High School. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Joyce (Miller) Rupp, on July 11, 1954. To this union, he was blessed with three daughters Cindy, Elaine, and Candie. Ron and Joyce made their home in Sidney, Nebraska until 1960, when they moved to Gering.
Following high school, Ron was a lineman for the Power Company in Sidney, Nebraska for five years. Ron and his family relocated to Gering, Nebraska and he continued his lineman experience by becoming a foreman for over 40 years at the United Telephone Company. Ron spent numerous harvests driving a sugar beet truck for his son-in-law, Mark. Ron was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Ron and Joyce loved to travel to the west coast annually. He played and umpired softball for many years. Ron and his family enjoyed many summers at the lake fishing, camping, and water skiing. Ron enjoyed several trips to Prairie Winds Casino with his wife Joyce and most recently with his grandson Ron. He was an active member of the Eagles Lodge serving as president at one time. Ron never met a stranger he wouldn’t talk to. He was loved by many and will be truly missed.
Ron is preceded in death by his wife, Joyce (Miller) Rupp; daughters, Elaine Schwab and Candie Rupp-Runge; parents, Dave and Mary E. Rupp; brother, Harold Rupp; sister, Joyce Jodine Rupp; brothers-in-law, Richard Jirovsky and Jud Reed; and sisters-in-law, Teresa Reed and Willa Jean Miller. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Keller (Mark); son-in-law, Ken Schwab; grandchildren, Ronald Schwab, Stacey Meisner (Eric), Heather Landreth (Chris), Sara Rogers (Matt), Steven Schwab (Jennifer), Steph Berger (Jared), Christopher (Alexa) Runge, Courtney Runge; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Betty) Rupp; sister, Sandra Jirovsky; and numerous nieces and nephews.
